You can never have too many hardy perennials that flower with blooms of true blue. In late summer and fall, Chinese Plumbago puts forth clusters of beautiful electric blue flowers at the ends of its upright stems. Its close cousin, Leadwort (C. plumbaginoides), is a nice spreading groundcover, while Chinese Plumbago fits better into a perennial border. Named for famous British gardener, Miss Ellen Ann Willmott, Chinese Plumbago brings extra color to the garden with the burgundy tones of its autumn foliage.
