Gardening Friends,
Ruth and I have truly enjoyed this past year operating the nursery. It was exciting last spring to see the mail order requests start coming in for the first time. As gardeners all across the country received their plants, they warmed our hearts with their comments of how pleased they were. Many people told us they were especially thrilled with how large the plants were when they arrived. As 2009 is our second year of offering and shipping plants via mail order, we are still in the early stages of this adventure but feel we are learning the ropes quite well pretty quick.
We would like to say thanks to all who purchased plants from us last year, including all the gardeners from the Hummingbird Forum. You can learn a lot about hummingbirds and join the dialogue on this forum at www.hummingbirdforum.com.
It was also an honor for us to provide plants to a number of Public Gardens and other institutions in 2008. These include several Botanical Gardens in Oklahoma, Kansas, and Arkansas as well as both the Oklahoma City and Tulsa City Zoos.
We continue to search for, trial and offer new plant selections so we can bring you the best performers for your gardens. There are several new plants in this catalog that we hope you enjoy. It is exciting to offer our seed grown Lace Cactus from Southwest Oklahoma, a tiny native with enormous pink flowers, the Orange Clock Vine, a tropical from Kenya with breath-taking blooms, and an offering of a few Heirloom Perennials, like a local Pink Summer Phlox and a Dianthus from Mississippi.
Remember that we have several non-listed things at our open Nursery Days, so hopefully we will see you in Stillwater this Spring and maybe in the Fall as well. Our open hours for on-site sales are different this year. We will be open on Fridays 9-5 and Saturdays 9-5 and closed on Sundays. Instead of the usual pole tents, we will be set up in our new retail greenhouse for the 2009 plant sales.
Ruth and I are tremendously grateful for your interest in our plants and wish you the best of success in your garden this year.
Steve Owens
